Translating textile craft into silver, the new styles are defined by careful composition and a sense of movement.

Crafted from the house’s founding material, sterling silver, the new Weft jewellery collection takes weaving as its starting point. The first launch since Paula Gerbase joined the Danish house as creative director, the series comprises chains that balance rigorous construction with fluidity of movement. “We’re exploring metal through the lens of materials, like textiles, that are softer and more in tune with the body, rather than in opposition to it,” says Georg Jensen creative director Paula Gerbase.
A rigorous construction
The collection began with a single strand of silver wire, a detail that appears across Georg Jensen archival jewellery and hollowware. “Techniques that allow for silver to take up space, to have a presence that is felt without being weighty,” says Gerbase.
An exposed construction is central to the collection
Silver wire is twisted into individual links, which are then hooked together by hand. An internal chain is threaded through them, securing the structure from within. “Weft brings fragility and strength into one piece of jewellery, in full sight,” she says. “We’re not hiding the internal workings but honouring them and bringing them to light.”The collection features single-weave chains, as well as double and triple weaves in bracelets and necklaces, extending to earrings and shoulder dusters. Select pieces feature a hanging orb — another reference to the archives. Georg Jensen used the motif in its hallmark, still applied to pieces crafted from precious metals. Suspended from earrings, the orb enhances the sense of movement
Revisiting the archives
Since taking on the role of creative director, Gerbase has led a renewed exploration of Georg Jensen’s Copenhagen archives. With Weft, the house’s history serves as a point of departure for reinterpretation, rather than a direct reissue of archival designs. Gerbase used this as an opportunity to go beyond sculptural objects that sit on the body, instead creating pieces that move with it. “Georg Jensen has a history of crafting jewellery that’s seen as sculpture, and in recent history that has often been interpreted as abstract, almost monumental forms that sit proud,” says Gerbase. “But in the foundation of the house movement is very much at the core of the pieces – in harmony with the body and its natural rhythm. It is this aspect of playfulness and lightness which set the foundations for the creation of Weft.”
The Weft collection will be available worldwide from 19 May 2026.
